It surprised me. Last year there was this single b

It surprised me. Last year there was this single bloom that popped up off schedule and I immediately thought it was a little gift from above. Mom used to drive over with a gardenia or two clipped from her yard in her car cup holder. So I clipped it and placed it in one of her old tea cups and took a photo because I knew I would paint it later. I finally got around to doing so yesterday. Funny how we forget the “gifts” that grow in our own yard! It’s so easy to give a clipping to someone who crosses our path. A thoughtful gesture that spreads joy.

Happy Mother’s Day! Thinking of all the moms today. The ones who gave us life and the ones who life gave us. Thinking of my children who no longer qualify as “children” in some legal matters but will always be my babies. Those I carried in my womb and those I carry in my heart. And also of my precious friends who have lost their mamas recently or are caring for them. What would we be without our mamas? Well, I guess we wouldn’t “be” anything at all! ❤️ Love to you on this day!

I’m the kind of artist that says “Here’s my heart.” 💙I get lost in thought and detail and paint my emotions. This is my mom. Plain and simple. From a photo I took of her favorite Iris in her garden. Favorite flower. Favorite color. My daughter came home while I was painting and I asked her if this reminded her of anyone. “Gran.” Yep. Sure enough. So, “Here’s My Heart”, 30x40. Thank you for being so gentle with it. Your sweet words of encouragement are appreciated.
