I’ve decided that the reason we overspend on dor

I’ve decided that the reason we overspend on dorm room shopping is because it’s retail therapy. That, mixed with a mom’s anxiety and the need to keep busy. Reminiscent of how when they were little and we stopped to adjust their collar or fix a stray hair before entering all the thresholds, we want to make sure they are “all set”.

We know we need to let them fly but we also want to hold on tighter! We are a mix of so many contradicting emotions. Like joy and sorrow, excitement and fear all at once. All these feelings build up as the college drop off day approaches. The greatest of these emotions is love of course. And it’s because we love them we help them launch. But man is it hard.

Feeling all of this as we prepare to drop off our youngest. Reminded of this painting I did when her older brother set out.
