What Can I Offer?
Maybe it was the viral videos of those beautiful Italians emerging onto their balconies with their instruments in hand. That rebellious human spirit that will dance and sing even when the heart is breaking. I don’t have any musical talent. What can I offer? So I announced I would create a free online art class. I love the idea of creating together while we are practicing “social distancing”! Hopefully everyone, regardless of artistic experience, can create together and lose themselves in art as I have enjoyed for so long.
A Free Art Class Was Born
I jumped into all of this feet first! It was not perfect, but it was fun! With little to no experience in how to do this and wanting to learn how, this provided a great reason to start. I quickly created some YouTube Videos for what I have titled “Hope Has Feathers”, a series of free online art classes. I created a Facebook Group where the videos will also be linked and there is room for Q & A. And lastly, I made the “Hope Is The Thing With Feathers” ebook as an exclusive gift for email subscribers. You can subscribe here. If you are interested in my favorite art supplies that I use on a daily basis, a list with Amazon links can be found here.
Hope Is The Thing With Feathers
It is my hope that these will be both useful and be a blessing. I would love your feedback! Would you like me to do some more in this series? If you give it a go, please share your work on social media and tag it #hopehasfeathers2020.
Jeanne Oliver shared some wonderful thoughts and advice on her instagram yesterday for parents with kids at home. She said to consider how we want our children to look back on and remember this time in their lives. As of now, our daughter will remember how I had art supplies and tri-pods and charging chords strewn about the dining and living room. Haha! But now that I’ve gotten most of it done, I plan to be more intentional with our time of self-quarantining. Our son is staying safe in his apartment at school.
I do hope this blog finds you doing well and healthy. And I hope one day we will look back at this time, at this blog, the same way I look back on the time I spent with Rachel.
“Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all…”– Emily Dickinson
